Track star Scott injured

Central State University track star Juan Scott will not run at Saturday night’s track meet at Youngstown State University because of a hamstring injury, Athletic Trainer LaShaunta Jones said.

Scott injured his left hamstring at practice on Tuesday. He had previously injured the hamstring last spring but did not miss any meets at that time. The Youngstown State meet will be the first meet that Scott has missed in four years of collegiate track.

Scott is one of the nations best hurdlers. The 21-year old has won two national championships and been named HBCU Athlete of the Year. He is currently ranked 3rd among NCAA Division 2 hurdlers in the 110 meter event. Scott also anchors the university’s 4x400 relay team.

Central State will field other hurdlers in Scotts’ absence. “If he’s down, we’re ready to step up,” Head Coach James Rollins said. Sophomore Demetrius Alexander will replace Scott on the relay.
