Sub Connection opens

Sodexo Magic, the university’s food vendor, opened a new place for students to eat on Homecoming Day Oct. 12, 2019. The Sub Connection offers plenty of options for dining in or carry out meals.

“It was a brilliant idea to build a Sub Connection instead of a McDonalds or another chicken place,” restaurant manager Caila McKenzie said. “There are not a lot of healthy food places nearby for cheap.”

Sub Connection is hiring students to work in the restaurant. “We did a lot of interviews when we first opened,” McKenzie said. The restaurant is still hiring. It pays $8.50 an hour. The job is convenient for students who do not own a car, since the restaurant is located just across campus at the corner of Brush Row Road and SR 42.

“Sub Connection has a big name, so it looks good on my resume,” student Markida Williams said. “Plus they have different locations. We can work around the world.”

Student Kalijha Finch has been working at the restaurant since it opened. She says the restaurant is a good opportunity for CSU students. “Working at Sub Connection allows us to remain busy, challenges us, and gives us the means to develop ourselves,” she said.

Sub Connection sells a variety of 6 and 12 inch subs, including chicken subs, vegetarians subs, and steak subs. It doesn’t offer a student discount, but it accepts Marauder Bucks. A six inch subs starts at $4.39, and you can get a whole meal for under $7.00.
