Central State University will open a new residence hall on the north side of campus in August. The $24 million project is currently under construction behind McPherson Stadium.
Director of Residence Life Justyn Fry said the new hall will become the largest on campus with 250 beds. Fry said the hall will be reserved for upper classmen who can choose from several living arrangement including one, two, and four bedroom apartments. The four bedroom “quad” suites will have kitchens.
The as yet unnamed building will also include a café, where food and drinks will be sold, a new health and wellness center, and an outdoor activity space. It will also include two classrooms for the university’s exercise science program.
The university began construction of the project in the Fall of 2018. Fry said that construction has continued throughout the winter except on days when the wind chill brought 10-degree temperatures.
Ohio based University Housing Solutions is constructing the residence hall. Central State will lease the building with an option to buy it.
