Gospel singers bear witness

Updated: May 9, 2019

Gospel prodigy Geoffrey Golden, the winner of Season 7 of BET’s “Sunday Best,” has a story to tell, and it’s as powerful as his astonishing voice. He chose to take his story on tour and share it with students all over the nation, including students at Central State University.

Golden told students in Paul Robeson Auditorium March 21, 2019, how he was delivered from demons of depression, self hate, and suicidal thought. After he gave his testimony, he sang two of his hit singles: “All of My Help.” and “See Revival.”

SGA President Martez Hodges attended Golden’s performance. “It was the mighty power of God in Roberson tonight,” he said.

Golden brought out another up and coming Gospel artist Kelontae Gavin. “Gavin gave his all to the Lord,” student Ke’Andre Graves said. ”It most definitely showed. You could look out into the crowd and see how many people were engaged in worship with Kelontae and the rest of the members of the tour.”

Singer William Mcdowell wrapped up the concert with two songs: “ Falling On My Knees ” and “ I Belong To You. ” He ended the night with an altar call and prayed over everyone at the altar and everyone in the room.

Interfaith Campus Ministry looks forward to carrying on with more events like this to try and draw more attention to Christ on Central State’s campus.
