Central State University is planning a new botanical garden for Wilberforce. The “Seed to Bloom” garden will cater to the CSU students and the local community. The garden will showcase different types of plants from Ohio.
“This botanical garden is a great idea. The community will be able to rent it out for special events, and CSU professors will be able to use it for class,” Central State professor Cadance Lowell said. “The project should be finished and ready to open by October 2019.”
Workers are currently preparing the site of the new garden, which will be located on State Route 42, across from the main entrance to the university. The garden will include a gazebo, decorative fence, and a parking lot for visitors. Matrix Architects of Dayton is overseeing construction of the project.
CSU’s campus, extension and community programs will use the garden, which is meant to improve conditions facing families in both rural and urban communities.
