More than 60 companies will attend the Central State Career Fair October 16, 2019, in the University Center. All students are invited to attend.
“The Career Fair is so fun,” said senior Camille Montgomery, who found an internship at a bank at last year’s fair.
This year’s fair will be held in the main ballroom of the University Center, as well as adjacent rooms. Students must dress professionally to attend. They should also bring copies of their resumes.
The number of companies planning to attend the fair is down this fall compared to last year, though there is still time for companies to register for the fair. The university charges companies to participate, so the fair is a way for Career Services to generate revenue.
Some students have complained in the past that not enough companies relevant to their majors have attended the fair. Journalism and Digital Media majors are among those who have complained. Smith said that students often have a narrow vision of what the major entails. “Most student want to be either in front or behind the camera,” Smith said. Smith said that students are generally not interested in print journalism, media sales, and social media, all of which offer significant opportunities.
Students who do not yet have a resume should visit Career Services on the second floor of the University Center.
