Central State University will hold its annual Career Fair March 6, 2019, in the University Student Center. Sixty-eight companies are expected to participate.
“I always look forward to seeing the graduating seniors who attend,” Career Service Director Karla H. Harper said. “(They) have the opportunity to secure employment from attending the fair.”
The Career Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main ballroom and the adjacent show room. It is open to all students. Students who participate in the fair should dress in professional attire and bring copies of their resume. Harper said they should be prepared to talk about themselves with corporate recruiters. “They should have a clear understanding of themselves and the skillset that they bring to the table,” Harper said.
Career Service also offers students year round help in securing jobs. It is now using Handshake, an online networking website and phone application, to connect student with jobs. Students should register with Handshake and then list Central State as their college. This will allow the student to connect with employers who have expressed an interest in CSU students. “We’ve connected with employers through Handshake, and now at any time during the semester students can have first hand access to a direct pipeline with the companies that are partnered with the University,” Data Specialist Stephanie Russell said.
